Meeting plans for an Open Day in June

The Friends met on Wednesday night at Hillside. In the first half of the meeting we heard from Jason Green from Leeds City Council who explained the work that has been going on behind the scenes over the last few years. This included

  • Plans to divert the Bridleway that runs through the site to the edge of the site by the railway line
  • Plans to remove the Barn’s roof slates for safe storage and replace with a temporary roof until a full plan is in place
  • Looking at residential development opportunities to raise funds for the refurbishment

The second part of the meeting agreed a number of next step actions for the group:

  • A small group was tasked with writing a constitution, bank account and funding bids
  • There will be a site visit to plan for a cleanup
  • Aim to hold an Open Day and cleanup event on site in June
  • Have a display at Beeston Festival and White Rose Centre to build interest for the Open Day

The next meeting will be on Wednesday 1st May at 7:30pm at Hillside.
